Welcome to the online home of the Copyright for Creativity Initiative.

We believe that it is time for a discussion in the European institutions on how to ensure that copyright fully supports innovation, creativity, competition, and the public interest.

At a time when the copyright public policy debate tends to focus exclusively on enforcement, we believe it is time for a constructive policy agenda to ensure copyright meets the needs of the 21st century.

In pursuit of these objectives, we have adopted Copyright for Creativity - a Declaration for Europe, embodying a new approach to European copyright - an approach where everyone benefits, innovation is fostered, creativity is incentivised and rewarded, and access to the fruits of the European creative spirit is improved for all Europeans.

Alongside the declaration, individual signatories have provided a set of examples of uses of creative works to illustrate some of the issues they believe should be discussed at EU level to achieve the objectives of the declaration. We believe a debate about the law which isn't focussed on the practical application of the law is a missed opportunity. This list of examples will continue to grow and evolve as more organisations join us.

You can learn more about who we are and our approach on this site, as well as how like-minded organisations and decision-makers can get involved in Copyright for Creativity as it evolves and grows.
